We are currently adding information to this new website as fast as possible - look for class specific information under the "Classes" menu, including a 3 week outline and a downloadable version of our Band Manual.
Steve Graves is currently in his 24th year of teaching music in the Anaheim Union High School District and this will be his 11th year as the band director at Lexington Junior High School. Twice recognized by the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association as a “Distinguished Member”, Steve has also been awarded Teacher of the Year three times by his district and is a four-time recipient of the PTA Honorary Service Award.
Graduating from Cal State University Long Beach in 1985 with a BA in Music Education, Steve has been an active educator even prior to receiving his California teaching credential, instructing percussion and arranging music for bands at many local high schools and also writing for the marching band while at CSULB. Steve has been a field percussion and music adjudicator for the SCSBOA since 1990, and also serves as a festival adjudicator. Since 1987 he has adjudicated for the American Drum Line Association, and has also judged for the Southern California Judges Association and the Marching Band Association of Southern California. Often requested as a percussion clinician, Steve has served as an honor group auditioner and conference presenter, and has conducted several district honor groups in the area.
Mr. Graves was employed by Disneyland for 16 years as a musician, and also performed with the Velvet Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. He remains active as a performer, appearing with the Orange County Wind Symphony, the Capo Valley Symphony, Cypress Pops, Cypress College Winds, the worship band at his church, and his local rock band, “Two Drink Minimum”.
